Clinical Observation of El Tor Cholera (in Kun San area, 1971)

Abstract
|
|
|
31 cases of El Tor cholera during epidemic in Kun San area which were admitted to Kun San Provincial Hospital from Sep. 1, 1971 to Oct. 30, 1971 were analyzed clinically, and the results were as following:
1) Sex distribution showed 58.1% (18 of 31) of male and sex incidence ratio
of male to female was 1.4 to 1.
2) Age distribution ranged from. 3 to 74 years of age included 72.5% of 4th decade, 19.3% of 3rd decade, 12.9% 5th decade and 12. 9% of 2nd decade etc.
3) Occupations were unemployment (38.7%), agriculture (32.3%) lab our(12. 9 %) and fishery (9.7%) etc.
4) Initial clinical symptoms were diarrhea (100%), vomiting (80.6%),
myalgia (48.3%), anuria (41.9%6), hoarseness (25.8%), abdominal pain
(22.5%), tinnitus (19.3%) and chilliness (16.1%) etc.
5) Average duration of positive stool was 6.5 days.
6) Intensive nursing care including check of vital sign and intake-output,and isolation care for the patients was done which were suspected good results in zero percent of motality in addition to adequate medical therapy.
